Various websites say that the club was founded in 1947, but my book of Scottish Cup records says that Girvan played in the first round of the Scottish Cup in 1938/39, losing 4-1 at Duns. Which club was this?

I am a Beith Juniors fan and would like to say that I have a new found admiration for Billy Thomson after Friday Night. Throughout many years of watching him as a player and manager I have taken great delight at shouting at him but the way he walked round the park shaking hands with all the Beith fans after we got promotion was brilliant. Would just like to take the opportunity to thank everyone connected with Girvan FC for thier support. Unfortunately because of a once in a lifetime career decision I must step down as coach. The nessary commitments of studying and personal development means it would be impossible for me to sustain the time input needed to coach at the level Girvan FC deserves. After watching the games against Annbank and Whitletts(biggest load of Lillian Gist I've ever seen), I must comment that if the team continue to play like this they will stand no chance of staying in the higher leagues.

Just a thank you on behalf of Sam and myself for the hospitality shown to the wee fella on our recent trip home. He had a great time training with the boys...and the bruises from Hoots' tackles have almost healed now! Very best of luck for the coming season from Chicago!

I can remember playing for the Amateurs against Queens Park round about 1960/61 when the referee stopped the game in the second half, pulled all the players to the centre circle and said "At the next foul you are all being sent off". Queens Park were the dirtiest side I ever played against, mind you we were not much better. I think Andy Blackwood captained the side.

The greatest player I ever saw at Hamilton Park was Dennis Law and he just got off the bus and did not play in a warm upgame for Scotland V Germany in 1959. Andy Kerr of Kilmarnock was the centre but he got injured in the warm up and Ian St John of Motherwell took his place. By the way Scotland won 3.-2 and this was Uwe Seelers first In ternational.

After watching the Girvan vs Meadow 21st May, and already seeing this so called referee before, i was totally shock to see this referee beening given a game of this stature with alot of pride at stake. I hope this referee remembers that there are 2 teams on the park and hopfully he will get at least 1 decision correct for once in his lifetime and hope we dont get him next season, what a disgrace to footballing referees around the country who try to make the game entertaining.

As a Girvan man living in England, it is great to see my hometown team doing so well. Having just got into the computer age, I was amazed to find this page through Google. I am curious to know if Girvan will be promoted if we finish in second place, or is it just the champions that go up?

today 17dec was my first visit to hamilton park, I enjoyed it very much apart from the result. I found all the people connected with the club i came into contact with to be very freindly and helpful, and I am loooking forward to a return visit.

Well done Girvan on first season in juniors. I played for Girvan from 1980-83 (player of year 82/3!!) when big Snatcher, Alec Read, was in charge. Lived in England since then but still check for the results each week! Anybody from those days still involved??
